About PharmaSim
PharmaSim exists to close the gap between knowing about medicines and knowing what to do when a real patient is standing in front of you.
The problem we address
Pharmacy education is rigorous on knowledge but offers limited safe practice for judgement under pressure. Students often meet their first real difficult encounter on the job, where mistakes have consequences.
PharmaSim gives learners a place to make those early mistakes safely, see the consequences, and build the reflexes that keep future patients safe.
Who it is for
Pharmacy students building clinical reasoning, practising pharmacists refreshing specific skills, instructors looking for discussion-ready cases, and programmes that want a practical supplement to lectures.
Our educational stance
PharmaSim is strictly educational. It is not a medical service, does not give medical advice, and does not replace formal education or clinical judgement. Every scenario should be discussed with qualified instructors.
How we differ from a quiz
A quiz tests a single fact. A simulation embeds that fact in a human situation — the patient's story, constraints and fears — so you learn to reach the right decision under realistic conditions, not just to recall it.
Educational approach
PharmaSim is built on scenario-based learning: each case is a realistic pharmacy encounter with a patient's request, symptoms and context.
You practise decision-making by choosing among realistic responses — the right call depends on the full situation, not just the drug.
After every decision you receive immediate feedback: the consequence, how it scored across competencies, and the recommended approach.
Scenarios can be repeated, so you reinforce patterns and build confidence through deliberate practice.
Your results feed a progress dashboard that tracks competency scores and history over time.
How scenarios are created
Scenarios are written as self-contained cases drawn from common pharmacy situations — dispensing, counselling, interactions and management.
Each scenario is structured into a sequence of steps: a patient line, a decision point with several response options, and an outcome with feedback.
Every response option is assigned scores across the competency dimensions and a grade, so the debrief reflects the quality of judgement, not a single correct fact.
Content is reviewed internally for educational consistency and clarity before it is published.
PharmaSim does not currently apply a formal medical peer-review process. Scenarios are an educational practice tool and should be discussed with qualified instructors.
Sources & Methodology
PharmaSim content is developed by our editorial team with reference to established pharmacy and pharmacology resources — including standard pharmacology textbooks, official prescribing information, drug interaction databases, and clinical guidelines.
Our scenarios are based on real-world pharmacy situations: common dispensing errors, recognised drug interaction patterns, standard counselling points, and well-documented safety concerns.
We do not fabricate citations, invent clinical studies, or claim institutional affiliations we do not have. Where we reference a general principle (for example, NSAID contraindication in the third trimester), it reflects widely accepted pharmacological knowledge.
Content is reviewed internally for educational consistency and accuracy. PharmaSim does not currently apply a formal external medical peer-review process, and we are transparent about that.
Pharmacy knowledge evolves — always verify drug information against current, authoritative references such as national formularies, manufacturer prescribing information, and your local clinical guidelines before making any clinical decision.
