Prescription Practice
Learn to read, verify and challenge prescriptions the way a working pharmacist does — catching errors before they reach the patient.
Prescription practice is the disciplined habit of reading a prescription as a safety document, not just an order to fill. PharmaSim scenarios train you to verify the drug, dose, route and frequency against the patient's context, and to recognise when something does not add up.
Reading a prescription critically
A prescription carries more than a drug name. The patient's age, weight, kidney function, allergies and current medications determine whether the same dose is therapeutic or dangerous. Scenarios present this context so you practice reading the whole picture.
You learn to ask: Is the dose appropriate for this patient? Is the route correct? Is the quantity reasonable for the treatment duration? Does the diagnosis match the drug?
Detecting errors
Common errors include look-alike/sound-alike drug names, wrong dosing units, missed allergy cross-reactivity, and dangerous combinations prescribed by different specialists. The simulator exposes you to these so they become reflexes to check.
When you spot a problem, the correct response is rarely to silently fix it — it is to contact the prescriber, document the clarification, and only then dispense.
Decision-making under ambiguity
Not every prescription is clearly right or wrong. Some require judgement: a borderline dose, an off-label use, a patient on many medications. Training builds the confidence to pause and consult rather than guess.
